What are the Witcher 3 Remastered system requirements?
CD PROJEKT RED's updated support page expands the PC requirements to include Minimum, Recommended, Ultra, RT Minimum, RT Recommended, and Path Tracing configurations. The published minimum baseline for the upcoming requirements change is Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i5-8400, GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB, 6 GB VRAM, 12 GB RAM, 70 GB on an SSD, and 64-bit Windows 11. (s17) (s18)
| Component | Official minimum baseline |
|---|---|
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8400 |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB |
| VRAM | 6 GB |
| RAM | 12 GB |
| Storage | 70 GB SSD |
| OS | 64-bit Windows 11 |
What changed for PC players?
- Windows 11: CD PROJEKT RED says it will no longer officially support or test Windows 10 after the operating-system and driver-support changes described in the requirements notice. (s17)
- SSD: HDDs are no longer supported in the new baseline; the publisher cites loading, asset streaming, and performance as the reason. (s18)
- DirectX 12: the upcoming baseline is intended to run exclusively on DirectX 12 for ongoing technical improvements and modern hardware support. (s18)
- Performance targets: the official table's FPS expectations come from QA testing, but the publisher warns that scenes, resolution, and system configuration can change actual results. (s17)
Does meeting minimum requirements guarantee smooth performance?
No. Meeting the minimum baseline is a compatibility floor, not a universal FPS guarantee. Higher resolution affects FPS, and RT/Path Tracing measurements use different upscaling and Frame Generation conditions than the non-RT presets. Use the best graphics settings guide to choose a sensible starting point, then adjust one setting at a time.
